  • A young orangutan shelters from the rain under a broad green leaf. Her intelligence shows in her expressive, almost-human face. Carved into the underside of the leaf are the words “Borneo” and “Sumatra.” These two Indonesian islands are the only places in the world where orangutans are still found in their natural habitat. On both versions the mouse also waits out the rain under a leaf. The following code appears on the base of Version 1: RQBHHYAQDRFLHMSHBW. The keyword is “Harmony Kingdom” and the type of animal on the box. The code is removed from Version Infinity and is replaced by the cryptic carving “NBIII.” This stands for Notah Begay III, Peter’s 50-1 bet for the winner of the 2000 British Open Golf Championship. The interiors of both versions portray orangutan faces.

  • NOTE: Because Harmony Kingdom is handmade, individual box figurines may exhibit slight variations. While the artisans do their best to ensure that Harmony Kingdom boxes look seamless, many pieces do look like two-piece figurines.
  • Harmony Kingdom’s artists often conceal a small motif on the box figurines they carve as a sort of “signature.” This identifies the piece as being their work and adds to the Secrets of the Kingdom. David Lawrence uses an acorn on most of his box figurines, and Peter Calvesbert uses a mouse. Many collectors enjoy searching for these small, hidden symbols of the artists.
