  • Peter’s “Brain Trust” is an homage to all owl varieties, and so is in essence “every-owl!” The names of well-known owl varieties are carved on the base of these lifelike fellows. Inside, a remarkable event that will take place on June 8, 2004 is commemorated: The transit of Venus. This refers to the day Venus will pass directly between Earth and our Sun, the first time this phenomenon has occurred since 1882. At that time, Venus will appear to our eyes as a small black dot against the sun. Savvy collectors will note that Peter’s signature mouse has gone missing! Since mice happen to be a favored owl snack, it sure makes one wonder…

  • NOTE: Because Harmony Kingdom is handmade, individual box figurines may exhibit slight variations. While the artisans do their best to ensure that Harmony Kingdom boxes look seamless, many pieces do look like two-piece figurines.
  • Harmony Kingdom’s artists often conceal a small motif on the box figurines they carve as a sort of “signature.” This identifies the piece as being their work and adds to the Secrets of the Kingdom. David Lawrence uses an acorn on most of his box figurines, and Peter Calvesbert uses a mouse. Many collectors enjoy searching for these small, hidden symbols of the artists.
