  • Africa is a wild place, not exactly smooth pavement, so surely elephants must trip occasionally. Master Carver Peter Calvesbert’s luck is such that if he were camping in someplace like, say, Kenya, an elephant would probably trip over him in the night. This improbable, inelegant scene is complete with Peter’s teddy and cricket bat (which every Englishman reportedly keeps near the bed in case of intruders). A tortoise can be seen sprinting to safety as the elephant topples over. The signature mouse is out of harm's way under the pillow. Inscribed around the lid are the words “Ross Lodge Please,” referring to a new home that Peter and his wife Andrea hoped to acquire at auction. The interior shows a baby elephant. For the Infinity Version, a tree trunk replaces Peter in his sleeping bag.

  • NOTE: Because Harmony Kingdom is handmade, individual box figurines may exhibit slight variations. While the artisans do their best to ensure that Harmony Kingdom boxes look seamless, many pieces do look like two-piece figurines.
  • Harmony Kingdom’s artists often conceal a small motif on the box figurines they carve as a sort of “signature.” This identifies the piece as being their work and adds to the Secrets of the Kingdom. David Lawrence uses an acorn on most of his box figurines, and Peter Calvesbert uses a mouse. Many collectors enjoy searching for these small, hidden symbols of the artists.
