  • A trio of young green sea turtles swims away from the beach where they have just hatched. A can of “turtle soup” beneath them is just one of the many dangers they must elude while growing up. “Doh” and “18” inscribed on the lid both refer to Peter’s son Sam, 18 months old at the time of carving and happily saying “Doh” when watching his favorite cartoon. “PC 5.9.02” shows the date the carving was completed for this piece and “Spring, TX” was one of the stops on the US House of Lords Tour in 2002. The mouse is underneath the turtle’s flipper that has a smiley face on it. On the Version One interior, a baby turtle emerges from an egg. Inside the Version Two the baby turtle has gone and his old home is up for sale.

  • NOTE: Because Harmony Kingdom is handmade, individual box figurines may exhibit slight variations. While the artisans do their best to ensure that Harmony Kingdom boxes look seamless, many pieces do look like two-piece figurines.
  • Harmony Kingdom’s artists often conceal a small motif on the box figurines they carve as a sort of “signature.” This identifies the piece as being their work and adds to the Secrets of the Kingdom. David Lawrence uses an acorn on most of his box figurines, and Peter Calvesbert uses a mouse. Many collectors enjoy searching for these small, hidden symbols of the artists.
